NuVAX Model 1000 - VAX on a Board
The NuVAX Model 1000 allows you to “drop a new engine
in your MicroVAX.” The Model 1000 replaces your MicroVAX processor, memory, and
hard drives with a new state-of-the-art processor, memory and hard drive.
NuVAX allows you to preserve your investment in hardware and software while
improving performance and lowering maintenance costs. NuVAX Model 1000 is
designed to prolong the use of VAX applications by upgrading MicroVAX systems in
applications that depend on Q-bus controller cards and the devices attached to these
controllers.
Performance
The NuVAX Model 1000 provides up to 18 VUPS to support the most demanding applications and provides a Q-bus interface to support the wide variety of
DMA, PIO, and interrupt Q-bus controllers.
Software Compatibility
NuVAX Model 1000 runs all VAX operating systems and application software previously running on those platforms in their existing binary form.
No application source code is needed, nor conversion required.
Q-bus Support
The NuVAX Model 1000 provides continued support for multiple Q-bus devices and
follows all Q-bus rules and specifications. Both Q-bus PIO and DMA data transfers are
supported as well as all four Q-bus interrupts. Q-bus PIO and DMA data transfers
occur at maximum Q-bus speeds. Throughput is limited only by the Q-bus device(s).
Other Considerations
Model 1000 meets HP’s requirements for the legal transfer of VAX/VMS software from
existing VAX systems to a new computing platform.
